Mountain Rotor Wash

Rogue Cheddar '89  (UC Santa Barbara)

Recorded in Santa Barbara 1991...at Rolling Thunder Studios--which was horrible...they actually cut us a break after we complained...the engineer was lousy, and the final product was lousy. The guys who did our previous recordings were busy around this time and we could not use them. In retrospect, we should have waited...but that is another issue.

Dave Sommers at Sommers Studio, Santa Barbara, saved this recording and we actually went to him again. He was open-minded and listened to our needs.

About The Artist

Stir together pounding beats, manic fills, and chugging basslines. Fold in fuzzy guitars and distinctly IDGAF vocals. Sprinkle on some ROGUE CHEDDAR. Stir and bake at 360 hardcore degrees from 1989-1993…and you’ll have one hell of a California sound. An active part of the Isla Vista music scene in the late 1980s and early 1990s, Rogue Cheddar emerged as a sort of pre-grunge, post-punk amalgam straight outta the UC Santa Barbara campus. With project titles like Rug Shredder and Mountain Rotor Wash and skate anthems like “Grindking” under their collective belts, RC began to garner industry attention, selling albums for four bucks apiece and landing gigs far afield—even as distant as San Fransisco. In the end, it was not to be, however. After years of pumping high-energy tunes into sweaty crowds of veteran skaters, surfers, and grungers, RC ended their run in Lompoc, CA, with an epic, punk-tinged version of “Sweet Home Alabama.” Sweet, indeed.
